New South Knoxville Library Branch Opens After Two-Year Delay

Knoxville officials confirmed the update this week, saying it reflects months of planning and public input from residents across the area.

"It's a big step forward for Knoxville, and it wouldn't have happened without a lot of people pulling in the same direction," said Maria Thomas, deputy mayor.

Planning documents reviewed by the Tennessee Tribune show the project is expected to cost roughly $4.2 million, with work phased in over the next 3 to 4 years. Local leaders say the timeline could shift depending on funding and weather.
