Nashville's new professional women's basketball team has a name: the Nashville Vibe. The franchise was unveiled on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and will begin play in the UPSHOT League in May 2027 as the league's sixth team.
Where and when
The Vibe will play its 17 home games at Vanderbilt University's Memorial Gymnasium. UPSHOT teams carry 11-player rosters and play a 34-game regular season, split evenly between 17 home games and 17 on the road. Nashville was first announced as the league's sixth market at a press conference at the Ryman Auditorium.
Who is running it
Nancy VanReece, a former Metro Nashville council member, is the team's president and CEO. Mark Walsh serves as managing partner. According to FOX 17, VanReece said the name "captures everything that makes this city special," pointing to Nashville's music and energy. Mayor Freddie O'Connell also weighed in, saying he is excited to bring his family to watch the team.
Branding
The team's colors are blue and yellow, inspired by the flag of Nashville and Davidson County.
Ticket and season-membership details had not been outlined in the initial coverage. Fans can watch the team's official channels for schedule and roster news ahead of the 2027 opener.
